I am a History and Politics student from Glasgow with a passion for youth voice and amplifying girls' opinions through varying mediums. I am also a Speak Out Champion for Girlguiding Scotland, advocating for girls and young women to have safe spaces throughout the nation. Other interests include music and travel!

Poor Scottish pupils are the worst hit by teachers' strikes

Classrooms in Scotland are empty again today as a result of the latest round of teaching strikes. Throughout February and March, some Scottish school pupils – including myself – will lose eight days of education, a stark contrast to the national average of two. The tactic of targeted strike action is being deployed Scotland’s largest teaching union, the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), to target high-profile politicians. But students are feeling the pressure too.

We must all listen to young people and champion their rights

Here she talks about Together’s State of Children’s Rights Report 2022 and why it’s so important for everyone to listen to and champion the rights of young people across Scotland, especially now the pandemic has altered the way we live.

As someone who is extremely interested in equality and social justice, I think it is vital for everyone, no matter their background, to be represented. Thankfully, Speak Out gives us the opportunity to share our own opinions and the voices of members of Girlguid
